Today's ride will be all trail. We'll ride 10-12 miles total out and back in one direction on the trail, return to the parking lot with a short break, and then we'll ride 10-12 miles total out and back in the other direction on the trail. You can easily conclude your ride in the parking lot after the first half of the ride if you wish to do so.

SWCC "Midnight" ride #2

The 1st “midnight” ride of 2026 was so much fun members demanded I create a Midnight ride #2. We assemble during Civil twilight and our “Midnight” is 9:30 pm.

Everyone/Anyone is welcome to join me for this “Midnight” ride. We have permission from the Metroparks Police to exceed the 11pm curfew by as many hours as we need. That said, my expectation is we are finishing 11:15pm

(The metroparks police are viewing us as “cute, elderly” people that desire to ride their bikes at night. I get the feeling they are so tickled at what we are doing that they might show up to cheer us on).

Here is the route:

Midnight ride #2 RideWithGPS route

The defining feature of this 1* ride is to safely ride at night and enjoy an easy metropark ride. We will be on metroparks multipurpose trail 90% of the time but we do cross intersections so some interaction with cars is to be expected.
Night Gear/safety lights required.
There are four opportunities for Metroparks style Bathrooms roughly mile markers: 0, 4,10,14

FALL PICNIC

Event honoring the folks that make this club work - the ride leaders. If you have led a ride, been on a ride led by a leader, intend to go on a ride led by a leader in the future, or just want to see what a ride leader looks like from the front, this event is for you. Here’s another chance to socialize, share a meal and talk about all the great events that our ride leaders have put together, including a wrong turn or two. All members and guests welcome.

The location is the same as last year, 12837 Diagonal Road, LaGrange, OH, 44050, (across from Carlisle Visitor Center), hosted by Joe and Kathy Yourkiewicz.

The club is providing food from Lorenzos. We will have pizza, lasagna, salad, and rolls. It is not necessary to bring food, but you may if you wish. Do bring your own beverages. We have some chairs but some people will need to bring some. Planning to eat at 2:00.

We ask that you register, (by clicking the blue box to the left - registration opens August 16). It makes it so much easier for the planners to get an idea of how much food to order.

New folks, come, socialize, hear the stories - some of them may be true - .and find out how much fun you missed this year. This event requires no riding, a helmet is not needed, and no miles are earned.

Coast to the Oast

Join in the 7^th annual Coast to the Oast ride on September 19^th. This tour explores the Catawba Island area with routes of 10, 30 or 50 miles. The ride is very flat and has many scenic Lake Erie views. What’s an Oast? Well, you will see two of them at the event! There is a price increase after May 28.

Get ready to hit the scenic routes! Registration is now officially open for Knox County Biketoberfest, in Mt Vernon Ohio, returning for its second successful year. Several of us from Silver Wheels had an absolutely fantastic time on their inaugural ride last year, and we're thrilled to encourage more of you to join this year's adventure!

This event is organized by Columbus Outdoor Pursuits, the same respected organization renowned for orchestrating the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (GOBA). You can expect a well-planned, fully supported, and incredibly enjoyable experience.

Biketoberfest is designed as a camping tour. But due to the event's excellent location directly on the bike path, several Silverwheelers opted for the comfort of the nearby Comfort Inn. This hotel is situated right next to the bike trail and is less than a mile from the ride's starting point, providing effortless access for those who prefer not to camp.

I will be acting as Silver Wheels’ point person for this event. To ensure smooth coordination, shared information, and group camaraderie, please inform me as soon as you have completed your registration. I will then create a group email list for our club members who are attending, making it easy for us to share updates, plan meet-ups, and enjoy the event together. Visobe

Halloween Ride and Potluck

This fun ride and potluck is on the calendar again this year! Bicycle safe costumes are encouraged, but not required. We will be starting at the Oberlin Public Library, 65 South Main St. Park in the library parking lot, the police station/city hall lot, or at the medical offices just behind the library.

11:00 A.M.: Room setup and food drop-off. We are in the Community Room, just past the restrooms, on the right. A refrigerator is available in the kitchenette.

11:30 - Rides start.

1:30 P.M. - Eat, socialize, and play games.

Here’s where help is needed:

Soup Suppliers: We 6 - 8 volunteers to supply a crock pot of soup.

Potluck Contributors: Members are welcome (not mandatory) to bring salads, breads, crackers, desserts, etc. You don’t have to sign up to indicate what you are bringing in advance - you bring it, we'll eat it. If you have nothing to bring, come anyway. We only ran out of food once – but that is another story.

Soup “Sentries”: Someone to be at the library at 10 a.m. and to oversee arranging tables, putting on tablecloths, organizing the buffet line, stirring the soup pots, etc. We need several non-riders to assist with those tasks while the rides are going on. Contact Eva if you can help.

We would like to encourage members who are no longer riding, to come, eat and socialize.

Anybody who doesn't plan to ride is still ENCOURAGED to come socialize and eat. If you're not riding, there will probably be some table games to play, you can help with the food set up, or listen to stories of past rides and riders - they get "enhanced" and "improved" every year!

Room Restorers: Help take down the tables and fold and stack the chairs. You don’t have to sign up in advance, just be around to help when we wrap up.

Costumes optional but fun. We've seen you in bike clothes...you probably won't look any weirder. If riding, be sure your costume is bike safe.

Ride Leaders: Ride leaders for open star levels needed, +/– rides are also welcome. Contact Tom if you are willing to plan and lead a ride.

2026 Fall Chili Wiener Ride & Potluck

It's that time of year to get your thermals and chili recipes out!!

This annual event marks the official close of our 2026 riding season. Any mileage achieved subsequent to these rides will be recorded for the 2027 riding season.

We will be meeting at the Oberlin Public Library Community Room. We have the Community Room from 11:00 to 4:00. We need chili makers. Additional sides are always welcome! Food can be dropped off starting at 11:00 a.m.

For the event, it is convenient and saves disposables if you bring your own table service. However, the Club will have available limited disposable tableware.

Rides will start at 11:30. The plan is to eat at 1:30. I will also need a couple of people to watch the crockpots while others are riding. Let me know if you can help in any way!! Thanks so much!
