Q: How early can I register and get on the road?
A: Registration is open from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM on event day.
Longer distance riders should start between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM
Shorter distance riders should start no later than 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM
Start times and rest stop hours are posted in the pavilion, on route maps, and in the ride schedule
Q: Can I register on the day of the event?
A: Yes. Day of event registration is available, though online registration is encouraged and closes July 14, 2026.
Q: Are post ride showers available?
A: Yes. Showers are available at the finish area and close at 5:00 PM. Riders should bring their own towel and toiletries.
Q: What payment methods are accepted on event day?
A: Credit cards and cash are accepted for registration and select purchases.
Q: Are e-bikes allowed?
A: Yes. E-bikes are welcome. Please note that Class 3 e-bikes are prohibited on portions of the North Coast Inland Trail managed by Lorain County Metroparks.
Q: What kind of rider support is provided?
A: Support vans are available to assist with minor mechanical issues, flat tires, and transportation for riders unable to continue. Basic first aid supplies are available for self care. In the event of a medical emergency, call 911.
Q: Is it safe to drink wine and continue riding?
A: Wine samples are limited to 1 oz or less. Riders are encouraged to stay hydrated, eat food at rest stops, and ride responsibly. Do not continue riding if you feel unfit.
Q: Are helmets required?
A: Yes. Helmets are required for all riders for safety.
Q: What are the routes like?
A: Routes are mostly flat with gentle rolling hills. Longer routes include modest elevation changes but require no special gearing. Most riding is on scenic country roads with limited traffic.
Q: Are routes marked?
A: Yes. Routes are clearly marked with color coded wine bottle arrow signs. Signs are placed before, at, and after turns. Cue sheets, maps, and support contact information are provided.
Q: Can I use Ride with GPS?
A: Yes. Ride with GPS is supported. Riders should download the app and create a free account prior to the event. Detailed navigation information is available on the Routes page.
Q: Can I change routes after I start?
A: Yes. Riders may change routes during the ride. Rest stop volunteers can assist with directions. To shorten your ride, follow the GREEN route markers where applicable.
Q: Do routes repeat sections?
A: No. Routes are designed to be unique. Some sections may be shared briefly with other routes.
Q: Can I purchase wine during the ride? Do I need to carry it?
A: Yes. Wine may be purchased at winery stops. Purchased bottles are transported to the finish area so you can ride without carrying them. The Wakeman Elevator pit stop does not offer wine transport.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: Dog Days Wine Tour is a rain or shine event. Weather is typically warm with the possibility of wind or brief rain showers.
Q: What if there is fog?
A: In cases of dense fog or unsafe conditions, riders may be asked to delay their start for safety.
Q: When is the last day to order merchandise?
A: Merchandise must be ordered during online registration. The final day to order is May 1, 2026.
Q: Will merchandise be available on event day?
A: No. Merchandise is not sold on event day. Limited leftover items from previous years may be available.
Q: What if I am still riding late in the day?
A: Support vans sweep routes in the afternoon.
Riders not finished by 4:00 PM may be transported by van

Lunch service ends at 3:30 PM
