1+/2-* Oberlin ACE, Memorial Ride - Nestor 3-20 miles

A memorial ride will take place to honor the cyclist from Oberlin who was recently killed on Quarry Road.

The event is being organized by Chris Dubray from Swerve Bike Shop. The ride will start from the parking lot behind Swerve at 10:00 AM. A slow ride west will go to the approximate site where he was hit on Quarry just south of Rt. 511.  A white bike will be in place to remind the public that an event of terrible result occurred there.  When the group arrives at the spot a moment of silence will be observed. The ride will then return to town.

This will be done in the same solemn manner as other rides of silence: slow, with no conversation in respect for another fallen cyclist whose life was taken by a driver who probably cared more about what was happening on his phone than his responsibility as a driver.

While few of us knew the victim, collectively we feel his loss as a fellow bicyclist who died unnecessarily. We wait to see what form justice will take.

In conjunction with the memorial ride we will leave the gasholder building lot off the ACE parking lot at 9:45 a.m., to ride with the group.   We will then return with them and continue on the trail until we are frozen. Mileage TBD by weather and riders.

Hot cocoa at McD's afterward.
