New folks. If you are confused about who to ride with, just ask someone to point you to a ride leader or other veteran member, who will help to get you in the appropriate riding group. It can be a bit hectic just prior to ride time, so an early arrival is suggested.
After the rides a lot of the folks get together for a little pizzaraderie at a local eatery. Not mandatory - but fun. Ask around if interested.
Level Leader Miles Route
1* C Burkhardt 10-15 Trail
2* McGowan 17 2* Route ++
3* R. Wells 25 3* Route
4+* Hipskind 25 4+* Route &&
Note: When a Star Chase is indicated, two or more rides of adjacent levels will be using the same route. Unlike a typical club ride, the leader(s) will not slow down to accommodate lagging riders, instead leaving them to be picked up by a trailing group. The lowest participating level will leave no one behind.
++ I will lead a variation of this ride on Wednesday to start in the AutoZone parking lot.
&& Tonight’s route has four 2.5 mile sections where we will riding at a steady 20 mph pace and two places where we will be riding at 20 mph for 1 mile. See the cue sheet for the sections of increased speeds labeled SPRINT. The idea is for all of us to stay together during the SPRINT sections at 20 mph, with ride leader changes as needed to maintain the pace. We will slow to about 15 mph after each sprint so if you pull at 20 and get dropped we can regroup. My goal tonight is to try and simulate an idea I have for helping Sean on his September 14th 200 mile ride. I am not able to pull at 20 mph for 21 miles, maybe not even for 10, but certainly I can pull for a mile or two and with a few others we could pull Sean on a 2.5 mile figure 8 section. Then he would continue on and we would slow roll back and pick him up later in his figure 8 route and do it again as a group
Wanted: Ride leaders for all open slots. Plus/minus rides also accepted. Any questions or to volunteer contact:
