The SWCC Towpath Trail Trilogy is a 2*, picturesque, and educational ride contrived such that:
Anyone completing the Trilogy will have biked every last yard of the Towpath Trail from Lake Erie to Akron.

Each part of the trilogy has ample stops to read placards, see the vistas, enjoy things you might not kn

Part 3:  the “Southern” section
A ~27+ mile one way ride from Rockside road to Akron with a Train ride to get back to the starting line.
The Akron train departures dictate if lunch will be Lugi’s in Akron or Yours_Truely at the start/finish line.
The assumption is that we will have ample time to have lunch in Akron (Lugi’s).

This Leg of the trilogy highlights the Nature Portion of the towpath trail.
We will stop at most placards, vistas and points of interest
There will be a short (15 min?) one way hike to see the historical stone quarry.
There are not many hills but we will pause at the top as needed.
Bring a bike lock, money for lunch, farmers market (Szalay’s) and $5 for the train ride including bike home.

NOTE: E-BIKES are NOT allowed on the train so plan accordingly.
One option for E-bikes is to leave your bike locked up at the lunch stop / train station and ride the train back with us - then use your car to collect your bike.

Additional Information Added 6/19/26:

The Trilogy3 Vetting ride is June 25th with a 9:30am KSU.
For all trilogies, the Vetting ride will be a 1* pace but the actual trilogy a 2* pace.
The train ticket back to our cars is $10 regardless of you having a bicycle or not.

NEW INFORMATION!!!!  The Cuyahoga Valley National Railroad has updated their E-Bike Policy.
Per the railroad's website certain E-bikes ARE now permitted for transport.
The provisions for transport are the battery is removed from the bike.
(You may carry the battery on your person when riding the train).

And the resultant bike must be under 40LBS.

If the above does not apply to you then the next best option is to leave your E-bike locked up at your choice of lunch stop or train station and ride the train back with us. YOu would then use your car to retrieve your bike.

Be advised we will get off our bikes for a short hike (10 min one way) at deep lock quarry to see the open pit mine.

We will also have a brief stop at a farmers market.
one of the things being learned in the vetting ride is the "proper" KSU start time
that will accommodate the hiking and farmers market and lunch yet still comfortably make the 4pm train home.
Our 9:30 KSU is assumed to be way-too-early but until I do this ride once I don't know what a realistic KSU should be.
